Banana Daiquiri
Ripe banana, gold rum and lime blended creamy, finished with a pinch of nutmeg.
- 5 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Hurricane glass
A banana daiquiri is thick, mellow and comforting, more like a boozy smoothie than a tart slush. Overripe bananas are the secret: they're sweeter and more aromatic.
Gold or aged rum brings caramel notes that make it taste like bananas Foster.
Banana Daiquiri
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 3 oz gold rum
- 1 oz banana liqueur (optional)
- 1½ oz fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz simple syrup
- 2 ripe bananas, sliced and frozen
- 1½ cups ice cubes
Instructions
- Put the liquids into the blender first.
- Add the frozen banana slices and ice.
- Blend on high for 45 seconds until creamy.
- Grate a little nutmeg over each drink.
Garnish: Banana slice and grated nutmeg
Glass: Hurricane glass
Tips for the best texture
- Freeze banana slices flat on a tray so they don't clump.
- A splash of cream turns it into a dessert drink.
Try a twist
Add 1 oz dark rum and a drizzle of caramel for a bananas-Foster daiquiri.
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
