Frozen Lemonade
Classic homemade frozen lemonade with fresh lemons, sugar and ice. Sweet, tart and simple.
- 5 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Mason jar or tall glass
- Alcohol-free
Frozen lemonade is the original slush, and it's still one of the best. Fresh lemon juice and a little zest make it taste dramatically better than the boardwalk kind.
Make a jar of simple syrup ahead of time and you can whip up a batch whenever the kids ask (which will be often).
Frozen Lemonade
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 3 oz fresh lemon juice (about 3 lemons)
- 3 oz simple syrup
- 3 oz cold water
- ½ tsp lemon zest
- 3 cups ice cubes
Instructions
- Add the lemon juice, syrup, water and zest to the blender.
- Add the ice.
- Blend on high for 30–40 seconds until snowy and smooth.
- Pour into glasses and garnish with lemon wheels.
Garnish: Lemon wheel and mint
Glass: Mason jar or tall glass
Tips for the best texture
- Roll lemons on the counter before juicing to get more juice out of them.
- A few mint or basil leaves blended in make it extra refreshing.
Try a twist
Blend in 1 cup frozen strawberries for strawberry lemonade, or add 3 oz cold sweet tea for a half-and-half slush.
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
