Frozen Mojito
A cool, mint-packed frozen mojito: white rum, lime and lots of fresh leaves, topped with soda.
- 5 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Highball
A frozen mojito is one of the most refreshing drinks you can make on a hot day. Blending the mint with the liquid first releases its oils and turns the slush a pale, pretty green.
Use lots of mint — it's the star — and keep the soda out of the blender.
Frozen Mojito
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 4 oz white rum
- 2 oz fresh lime juice
- 1½ oz simple syrup
- 15–20 fresh mint leaves
- 3 cups ice cubes
- 2 oz club soda, to top
Instructions
- Blend the rum, lime juice, syrup and mint leaves for 10 seconds.
- Add the ice and blend on high for 30 seconds.
- Pour into tall glasses.
- Top each with a splash of club soda and finish with mint and a wheel of lime.
Garnish: Mint sprig and lime wheel
Glass: Highball
Tips for the best texture
- Use only the leaves; stems are bitter.
- For a bright green color, blend the mint with the lime juice first for a full 20 seconds.
Try a twist
Add 1 cup frozen strawberries for a strawberry mojito, or skip the rum for a frozen 'nojito.'
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
