Frozen Mudslide
A boozy chocolate-coffee milkshake made with vodka, coffee liqueur, Irish cream and vanilla ice cream.
- 5 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Hurricane or milkshake glass
The mudslide is dessert in a glass: vodka, coffee liqueur and Irish cream blended with ice cream into something thick enough to eat with a spoon.
A chocolate-syrup swirl around the inside of the glass before you pour makes it look as good as it tastes.
Frozen Mudslide
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 2 oz vodka
- 2 oz coffee liqueur
- 2 oz Irish cream liqueur
- 2 cups vanilla ice cream
- 1 cup ice cubes
- chocolate syrup, for the glass
Instructions
- Drizzle chocolate syrup in a spiral inside two glasses.
- Add the vodka, coffee liqueur and Irish cream to the blender.
- Add the ice cream and ice.
- Blend on medium for 20–30 seconds, just until smooth; overblending melts it.
- Pour and top with whipped cream and chocolate shavings.
Garnish: Whipped cream, chocolate syrup and shavings
Glass: Hurricane or milkshake glass
Tips for the best texture
- Let the ice cream soften for 5 minutes so the blender doesn't strain.
- For a lighter drink, replace half the ice cream with milk and add ½ cup more ice.
Try a twist
Add a frozen banana for a banana mudslide, or a spoonful of peanut butter for a nutty version.
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
