Frozen Beer Margarita
A frosty party pitcher of tequila, limeade concentrate and light lager. Easy, fizzy and crowd-pleasing.
- 3 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Pint or schooner glass
The beer margarita (sometimes called a beer-rita) is a backyard staple. A light lager adds a crisp, bready note and stretches a batch for a crowd.
The beer goes in last and gets only a brief pulse so it doesn't foam over.
Frozen Beer Margarita
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 3 oz frozen limeade concentrate
- 3 oz blanco tequila
- 1 oz triple sec
- 2½ cups ice cubes
- 4 oz light Mexican lager, cold
Instructions
- Blend the limeade concentrate, tequila, triple sec and ice until smooth.
- Pour in the beer slowly down the side of the jar.
- Pulse just two or three times to combine.
- Pour into salt-rimmed glasses and serve immediately.
Garnish: Lime wedge and a salt rim
Glass: Pint or schooner glass
Tips for the best texture
- Never fill the blender to the top with beer in it; carbonation expands.
- Alternatively, blend without the beer and top each glass with a splash.
Try a twist
Use a grapefruit radler instead of lager for a paloma-style beer margarita.
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
