Frozen Rum Punch
A Caribbean-style frozen rum punch with lime, orange, pineapple, grenadine and nutmeg.
- 5 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Highball or punch cup
Caribbean rum punch traditionally follows a rhyme: one of sour, two of sweet, three of strong, four of weak. We've adapted that idea into a frozen version that's just as cheerful.
Fresh nutmeg on top is a must.
Frozen Rum Punch
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 3 oz gold or dark rum
- 1½ oz fresh lime juice
- 1 oz simple syrup
- ½ oz grenadine
- 2 oz orange juice
- 2 oz pineapple juice
- 3 cups ice cubes
- grated nutmeg, to finish
Instructions
- Pour the rum, juices, syrup and grenadine into the jar.
- Add the ice and run on high for 40 seconds.
- Pour into glasses.
- Grate nutmeg on top and add an orange slice.
Garnish: Orange slice and nutmeg
Glass: Highball or punch cup
Tips for the best texture
- Make a pitcher of the liquid base ahead and blend as needed.
- Aromatic bitters (2 dashes) add a spicy depth.
Try a twist
Use coconut water in place of half the juices for a lighter punch.
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
