Honeydew Lime Margarita
A soft green frozen margarita made with frozen honeydew, tequila and lime. Cool, light and lightly floral.
- 10 min prep
- 2 drinks
- Margarita glass
Honeydew is the quiet melon, mellow, floral and wonderfully refreshing when it's icy-cold. In a margarita it softens the tequila and keeps everything light.
Choose a fragrant melon; if it doesn't smell sweet at the stem end, it won't taste sweet in the glass.
Honeydew Lime Margarita
Ingredients (2 drinks)
- 3 oz blanco tequila
- 1 oz orange liqueur
- 1½ oz fresh lime juice
- ¾ oz agave syrup
- 2½ cups frozen honeydew cubes
- ½ cup ice cubes
Instructions
- Cube and freeze the honeydew for at least three hours.
- Add the liquids, then the melon and ice, to the blender.
- Run on high until perfectly smooth, about 30 seconds.
- Serve with a lime wheel and a small melon ball on a pick.
Garnish: Lime wheel and a melon ball
Glass: Margarita glass
Tips for the best texture
- A few basil or mint leaves make the melon taste even fresher.
- Melon liqueur (½ oz) can boost the color and flavor if your melon is mild.
Try a twist
Use cucumber vodka in place of tequila for a garden-fresh melon slush.
Blender, frozen drink maker or slush machine?
These amounts are written for a standard countertop blender. In an ice-shaving frozen drink maker, put the ice in the hopper and the liquids and any fruit in the jar, then run a full cycle. In a home slush machine, which freezes the drink itself, leave out the ice, replace it with about 1 cup of cold water or juice, and pour the mixed liquid into the bowl.
